A Queensland mother and her baby have managed to avoid serious injury after being caught in a hailstorm on Thursday evening.
Fiona Simpson posted pictures on social media of the bruises she sustained while trying to shield her baby from the weather after the windows of her vehicle were smashed while she was driving on the highway.
"I've learned my lesson today, never drive in a hail storm!" she said in the post.
As the storm grew more intense, Ms Simpson pulled over on the side of the road, just as hail blew out the windows.
"I covered my infant with my body to stop her from getting badly injured," she said
"My entire back, arms and head are badly bruised.
"I’m just so relieved that my daughter and grandmother are alright.
"Please, please be careful in this storm season. I know I’ll be sore tomorrow, does anyone know of a cream or ointment that will help with the bruising?"
