Toowoomba Regional Council will host a Skills Park Open Day on Saturday May 19 from 10am to 1pm at the recently completed Mountain Bike Skills Track in Stenner Street.
The Skills Track was built earlier this year in response to a petition lodged by a group of young people who were passionate about mountain biking.
Environment and Community portfolio leader Cr Joe Ramia said the open day will showcase the new track and provide riders the opportunity to learn about track maintenance.
“It was truly fantastic to see how passionate our younger generation was in the development of this track, and now is a chance to reward all of their hard work,” Cr Ramia said.
“The BMX Open Day will be a lot of fun for attendees and also very beneficial for track and its preservation.

“There will be food vans and musical entertainment at the event, and also the opportunity to learn from the people who actually built this track how to ensure the jumps and track don’t deteriorate.
“Everyone is welcome – especially those who would like to see this track remain in great condition for years to come.”
The track has already seen great success since its opening, with masses of local and out-of-town riders coming to test their skills and keep the track in order.
