Warragul-based milk processor Gippsland Jersey has created a calendar aimed at highlighting mental health and suicide in the dairy industry.
Launched at Farmworld last week, the calendar is being distributed to 1400 farmers across Gippsland and features 12 local farmers who have teamed up to share their stories. It also includes links and contact numbers to health services.
The calendar has been put together by Gippsland Jersey owner Sallie Jones, who lost her father to suicide in 2016. Sally hopes the calendar can help to end the stigma surrounding mental health in the dairy farming community.
Funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, the calendar has the endorsement of Bass Coast and Latrobe City councils.
