West Gippsland stock agents are investigating the idea of a multi-million dollar saleyard.
The development would be built just off Sand Road in Longwarry on 20 hectares and would house 220 selling pens. It is estimated the project would be capable of holding 1,700 cattle with the potential for a further 1000 cattle in the receiving and drafting areas.
It is expected to cost in the vicinity of 12 million dollars and would replace the Warragul saleyards and the livestock exchanges in Pakenham and Sale.
If it goes ahead, it would be completed and ready for business in 2 years time.
