Police are working to identify human remains found in Lamington National Park earlier this week.
Hikers made the grisly discovery in the forest on Tuesday.
The death was not being treated as suspicious, with forensic testing to ID the body underway.
It was believed the skeletal remains might belong to a man in his 60s, who went missing in the park when Cyclone Debbie hit in March last year.
He was never found, despite search crews combing the area for days after his disappearance.
