One WHITSUNDAYS resident has gotten a nasty phone call from local POLICE. They were called around 9 yesterday morning to find out their COMMODORE was found abandoned and completely burned out. The resident hadn't been home at the time and didn't even know the car had been stolen. Someone entered the house between Monday night and Wednesday morning through an unlocked back door, taken the keys and the car


A burglar has raided a canteen at GLENDEN. Between 8 am July 27 and July 31st someone gained entry by making a hole in the wall. At this stage nothing is believed to have been stolen. If you have information call CRIMESTOPPERS


Extended payment terms could be hurting mining services and the economy in MACKAY.  Resource Industry Network has released a report analysing the effects on the mining supply chain. They say places like MACKAY could miss out on new jobs and significant flow on effects if payment terms are extended.


Students from across MACKAY are making the trip to ROCKHAMPTON for a CQ Junior Robotics Competition. Kids from grades four to twelve will come to compete across robot dance, soccer and rescue categories. CQU Senior Research Technologies Officer Jason Bell says the competition is part of a State and National event. It's on at the ROCKHAMPTON C-Q-U campus tomorrow


Riders will be pedaling OUT OF THE WHITSUNDAYS next week as part of the RIDE FOR SICK KIDS. The 14 cyclists leaving AIRLIE BEACH on the 13th and going the 570 kilometers up to PALM COVE. They’re looking to raise over 120 grand for their effort and will donate the cash to RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES


It's finals time for the Queensland Basketball League and both MACKAY teams have made it. Meteorettes are sitting seventh and travel this weekend to take on second placed Ipswich Force at Llewellyn Stadium.
