A prison guard at a jail on NSW's mid-north coast suspended amid claims she was having a relationship with an inmate has been charged.
The 34-year-old woman who worked at the Kempsey facility was allegedly sexually involved with Sione Penisini, who is serving a 36-year sentence for the murder of Senior Constable Glenn McEnallay in 2002.
Corrective Services NSW kicked off an investigation after the allegations were revealed last week and on Thursday police arrested the woman at a home at Smithtown.
She's been issued a Court Attendance Notice for misconduct in public office and larceny.
The former guard has been granted strict conditional bail and due to face Kempsey Local Court on August 20.
