We have been blessed with a warmer than average start to our 2016 Canberra winter but the cold front that swept through over the weekend just gone had us all clinging to our electric blankets and dreading to even leave the house.
No it was not your imagination it got freezing!!! Mount Ginini (although not technically part of the ACT) takes the cake with its coldest recorded temp of -7 at 2am Saturday morning. Sunday morning at around 5.30am was the coldest out at the airport when it got down to a chilly -5.1 and Tuggeranong was at its lowest temp of -4.5 at 6.45am also Sunday morning.
The lowest ever recorded temp in Canberra was −10 July 11 back in 1971, so in comparison, we shouldn’t be complaining.
